Trees in the central university square on a sunny summer's morning. The lack of students is not due to the early hour, but to the fact that they are on their summer vacation. The grounds are always looking their best just before the week of summer graduation ceremonies.

Dated 2000, this is a statue to celebrate Faraday and the University's centenary and is not specifically of him. This top end of the site has changed dramatically in the last 10 years and I hardly recognised it. The University is a really rich source of photographic opportunities and I hope to do more as time permits.

This building is one of a number built during the post war expansion of the University and dates to 1954. The bas relief carving on the front of the building is by William Bloye (d. 1975)

This was an instructional engine in the department of Mechanical Engineering and was in steam for a university open day. Built 1944 by W Sisson of Gloucester and installed second hand in 1950. It was removed about 1993/4 and is presumably preserved somewhere. Claims that it went to Birmingham Museum of Science and Industry have been firmly rejected by that institute. Does anybody know where it is now?
