Dist:0.1km<br/>Bootle Fire Station has been housed in a converted barn since the 1950's. Prior to this the crews used to be based in the Kings Head, a local pub with the appliance, a horse and cart kept in the yard. The station serves a sparse rural community of some 2,000 people.

Dist:0.2km<br/>The church wall has been hit by lorries turning left at this junction many times! The houses in the background (Town Head) were mostly shops at the turn of the century, as were those on Main Street behind the photographer - now just David Scott's Bootle Stores / PO and William Bewley's wonderfully unpretentious butcher's shop are left. George Fox, founder of the Quaker movement, was stoned for heresy by local people in this churchyard in 1653. Captain Shaw of the RN is buried just behind the wall in the foreground - he founded the village school in 1830.
