Boothferry Homepage


Booth is a tiny settlement to the north of Boothferry Bridge over the River Ouse near to Goole. OS. maps tell of Villa Farm at or close to this location and they may be farm buildings but they have a more industrial appearance and currently they seem to be disused.

Dist:0.3km<br/>The bridge was built in the late 1920's. Control room on top is a 1970s (?) addition. Bridge still swings several times a day for river traffic - particularly Fuel Oil deliveries to Drax power station and grain barges to Westmill Foods at Selby. The bridge can swing either way - either up or down river.
