Dist:0.4km<br/>The subject of this photograph is a broken down wooden gate and a fragment of wooden fence. It is a surviving remnant of a field boundary that existed in the days - some thirty or so years ago - before Hedge End became a huge modern housing estate. The path in the picture runs to the north west alongside the railway.

Dist:0.4km<br/>This is the entrance to the footpath that leads to Hedge End Rail Station. It's about half a mile in length, you can often see smartly dressed business people, carrying briefcases, using it to get the commuter trains into the city.

Dist:0.6km<br/>In the last 25 years, Hedge End has expanded enormously, with the building of many houses. Here, to the north east of the modern development, old footpaths remain. This path, which crosses Woodhouse Lane at this point, is bordered to one side by an avenue of fine oak trees.
