This bridge is close to the boys old grammar school which is behind the white house and of historical note. The red fence just visible through the bridge has provided shelter for nesting swans in the past.

Dist:0.1km<br/>This is named after Richard Jenkinson, who lived here in the 18th century. The cottage which nestles just behind the farmhouse it is thought to be the original farmhouse, built in the 16th century. In one of the bedrooms, the middle one at the front, there was a Martyrs' Altar which is now located at Fernyhalgh near Preston.

Dist:0.2km<br/>A Roman Catholic church, built in 1882-4 and designed by E Simpson. Pevsner considered the porch tower to have “quite irresponsible details” but to me it is clearly a 19C design with no pretence at being medieval.
