This row of cottages was built in the 14th C as one large hall for a wool store. In the 17th century it was converted to weavers’ cottages. Henry Ford once tried to buy entire row and transport it to a theme park in Michigan. In 1929 the row was purchased by Royal Society of Arts and it has now been restored by the National Trust.

These cottages are the ones seen on the black and white photograph on the National Trust Rack Isle Information Board. These cottages are between the Swan Hotel and Arlington Row in the north eastern corner of the square.

This is probably the most photographed row of cottages in Britain! Built from Cotswold Stone, they make an attractive contrast to the country side. The name "Cotswolds" probably originated from two words cotes (sheepfolds) and wolds (open farm fields).

The Swan hotel is at the intersection of the two roads in the centre of the northern half of the square. This view was taken from the western side of the hotel.

The Rack Isle, so named as cloth used to be hung out here to dry on wooden racks, by the mill, during its days of cloth making. It is now protected and the area managed by the National Trust.

One of the two main hotels in Bibury, the Swan Hotel also has a beautiful garden and is involved in maintaining the wildlife on the NT's Rack Isle, between Arlington and Bibury.

The mill is in the north eastern section of the square. There has been a mill here for many centuries, but now it is a museum.

This square contains one of the most famous of the Cotswold Villages. The village is divided into Bibury and Arlington. This scene is of Arlington, in the west of the square, looking more or less north east. Bibury contains the hotels and a famous Trout farm and the mill, now a museum.

This is Arlington Row, one of the most recognised places in the Cotswolds. Built in 1380 as a monastic wool store and converted into a row of weavers' cottages in the 17th century.
