Dist:0.2km north<br/>The fanciful name of Ben Rhydding was made up for a nearby hydro. A temporary station was opened to serve this in 1866 and more permanent buildings were constructed by the hydro's proprietors in 1871, passing into the ownership of the North Eastern Railway in 1885. The original name of the local settlement was Wheatley but the new name has survived the demolition of the hydro in 1950.
