A barter economy at the Devonshire Arms in Beeley. How many broad beans to a pint of ale?

The Devonshire Estate owns the pub/hotel, most of the village, and the greater part of the land hereabouts.

In 2012 locals are up in arms because the estate is wanting to reclaim some of the tenanted village cottages to offer as additional rooms for the hotel. Tourism is very much the major industry here.

Note the bare arms and bare legs and the date - 27th March. The temperature was showing as 21 Centigrade in Beeley at this time!

Dist:0.1km<br/>Everything around here seems to be owned by the Cavendish family from nearby Chatsworth. The arms feature the three stags heads and serpent motif.

This was as close as I got to a pint without taking my boots off.
