The Adam and Eve Stones at Beckhampton. Looking West.

Dist:0.4km<br/>This standing stone, known locally as 'Adam', is one of a pair called the Beckhampton Longstones. This stone is the only remaining stone in the Beckhampton Cove, a neolithic arrangement of megaliths. The other nearby stone, known as Eve, was part of a megalithic avenue emanating from the west side of Avebury henge. Despite its masculine name, this lozenge-shaped sarsen stone is supposed to have a 'female' nature. This is an end-on view of the slab-like stone which must around 3 metres tall.

Adam (on the right in the foreground) is the only remaining stone in the Beckhampton Cove. Both are part of the neolithic monument centred on Avebury henge. The houses in the distance (to the right of the Adam stone) are at Avebury Truslow.

Dist:0.5km<br/>This standing sarsen stone, known locally as 'Eve', is one of a pair called the Beckhampton Longstones. This stone is the only remaining stone in the Beckhampton Avenue, a megalithic avenue emanating from the west side of the Avebury henge (in the same way that the Kennet Avenue leads south from the henge). The other nearby stone, known as Adam, was part of a cove close by the Beckhampton Avenue.

Dist:0.7km<br/>This unassuming watercourse, viewed here facing upstream, feeds into the stripling River Kennet south of Avebury. The view is notable for the absence of men in kayaks.

Dist:0.8km<br/>The cottage dates to 1820 and appears to be in largely original condition, externally at least. It does not appear to be listed. There are several signs in the vicinity bearing the legend aveburybraycottage1820.com including the nameplate over the front door.
