This is how it looked in 1979 . Once there were sidings and a goods yard on the approach to the station. This is a Royston to Kings cross service diverted due to engineering work that has shut the Welwyn route.

Dist:0.4km<br/>Viewed from the road bridge at Bayford railway station, a First Capital Connect train has just left the station bound for Moorgate. The trailing unit number is 313035, and the leading unit was number 313055 in case anyone cares..!! At the end of the straight in the distance is the northern portal of Ponsbourne Tunnel in [[TL3107]]. This is the stretch between Bayford and Cuffley on the Moorgate to Stevenage line.
