This character has become less distinctive where fields have been amalgamated and where woodland has been replaced by cropland and grassland, as in nearby [[SP1978]]. Planes approaching Birmingham Airport fly over the village noisily and often.

Dist:0.5km<br/>Brook Green Lane from Barston Lane ends here at a farm gate. The winding river is flowing east (right to left) at this point. Off to the right are two properties, Brook Cottage and Brookside Cottage. This spot is also one end of Wood Lane, an unclassified county road whose other end is in [[SP1978]]. A pleasant footpath, off to the left, continues by the river to Hob Lane.
