BR 9F 2-10-0 No. 92134 (built 6/57, withdrawn 12/66 and preserved, now at Crewe Heritage Centre) is one of numerous heavy freight locomotives - the 2-10-0s having a short life, allocated to Wellingborough and engaged on the heavy coal traffic up this main line. It is passing Barrow-on-Soar station (later rebuilt further south) on the Up Goods line. (See also [[[2173711]]]).

Dist:0.1km<br/>View northward, towards Trent and the North; ex-Midland Main line London - Sheffield. With an ex-LNW 0-8-0 (No. 49450), this train is probably a Toton - Willesden (Sudbury Sidings) working, which will run via Leicester and Rugby. Cf. [[1766282]].

Dist:0.2km<br/>On 1 February 2008, this footbridge was struck by a lorry engaged on engineering work and fell in front of a train. Fortunately casualties were light. It will be interesting to see whether the cost of repairing the bridge will be considered justifiable for what is probably very limited use. This is the view from the ramp down to the former goods yard.

The stations on this four-track section had platforms only on the Fast (Passenger) lines, but the Up coal train (hauled by a Stanier 8F 2-8-0) is on the Up Fast, the Slow lines being behind the wall to right. This station was closed on 4/3/68, but a new station was built (on the Slow Lines) a little to the east on 27/5/94.
