This photo of 1979 confirms that status. However Madeley itself closed in 2000, and now it appears to have built over as a housing estate (accessed via Nelson Crescent) near Cotes Heath. Dist:0.7km<br/>Steam engine driven bell cranks to raise water from the wells. The water is then pumped on by force pumps that are also driven by the engines. Both engines originally had well pumps but one set was replaced by electric pumps long before the station closed.
