The houses are on the south side of Rowley Road at the eastern edge of the village. In the foreground is the confluence of the Rivers Sherbourne and Sowe. Dist:0.3km<br/>To paraphrase Warwickshire Wildlife Trust's interpretation: the land has escaped agricultural or other development because of frequent flooding (there is some higher ground that the cattle can retreat to). Horses were grazed here for 150 years before cattle were introduced. Former alder coppice woodland is seen on the right.

On the centre horizon can be seen the spires of St Michael's and Holy Trinity some 3.5km distant (in SP3379). The chimney on the right is at the waste reduction plant on London Road in SP3477. Both the photographer's viewpoint and the spires stand at about 85m above sea level.

Dist:0.4km<br/>Warwickshire Wildlife Trust's interpretation board says that "Wet alder woodland is uncommon in Warwickshire…it is thought that the alders were planted in the 1850s to provide timber for clog-making…in an area that was previously an osier bed providing material for basket-weaving". The River Sowe runs behind it.

Lunt may have been a centre for breaking and training horses seized from the Iceni (native British population) following the Boudican revolt. The reconstructed eastern gateway stands behind.
