Dist:0.5km<br/>A number 37 bus from Edinburgh on its way to Penicuik. The unfamiliar colour is because the vehicle is dedicated to the route and painted up in a livery specific to the 37 route. Strikes me as introducing unnecessary inflexibility. After a further 20 minutes wait this bus took me into Edinburgh.

Dist:0.7km<br/>Possibly military, and possibly officer housing given the location and quality, and the notice on a fence around the adjacent sports field 'MOD property keep out', with secure access from these houses, and no indication that it was other than a public road, but a notice saying 'unauthorised or illegally parked vehicles would be clamped'.

Dist:0.8km<br/>Seeing these playground sheds reminded me of my primary school days in urban Lanarkshire. Our sheds straddled the boundary between the boys playground and the girls playground. [The playgrounds were strictly segregated in those days so the boys could run around fighting without disturbing the girls who would be skipping with very long ropes and elastics]. The two separate sheds were, in effect, built back to back with first floor accommodation above and built of dark, grim, sandstone with iron columns and steel beams. They provided a welcome shelter from the perpetual winter rain and sleet and were primarily used for British Bulldogs and similar games that always consisted of running about wildly and knocking people over. Of course this was back in the olden days before they had invented electricity and mobile phones........
