Dist:0.2km<br/>As most local families have been effectively cleared over a generation ago when the Money arrived, this initiative has come rather late. The plan is to fill in one of Ashford Carbonel's few gap sites [[147381]] with some form of affordable housing. Of course this has not gone down too well with some of the incomers who rather like their drawbridge raised. Seen on a noticeboard in Ashford Bowdler.

Dist:0.3km<br/>Only public way in or out with a vehicle. I have visited the village on foot or by kayak, but this the only road. Used to have a crossing keeper until the late 1960s. Pre-Beeching, when this was a busy freight route, he would have been rather busy.

Dist:0.3km<br/>The automatic half-barrier crossing is located on the only access to the village. Telephones are provided to contact the signaller at Woofferton Junction, about 1.4 miles to the south. The house pictured was, very briefly, a station, before being used as the crossing keeper's accommodation. The current owner informed me that the building was a station between 1850-52 and the then station master, his wife and eight children lived in just four rooms (two upstairs, two downstairs).
