Dist:0.6km<br/>Although its valley is mostly rural, the water power available from river has been used by a series of textile mills. The first was Choppards Mill (Woollen), long gone, and the second, still in business, is Washpit Mill (Woollen). Here the river is bounded by high dry-stone retaining walls. The millpond is alongside the river to the right.

Dist:0.7km<br/>This farm appears in two squares as the grid line goes through it. The part of the building on the left looks as if it was a barn with a weaving workshop above. Until the mid-19C many farmers in this area supplemented their income by handloom weaving.
