Dist:0.4km north<br/>The road up Arkengarthdale crosses a cattle grid on a bend and descends steeply into Langthwaite, the hill being called Raw Bank. Logically enough, the farmhouse at the top of the hill is Raw bank House, which faces up the hill towards the road. This view is the back of the house, overlooking Fore Gill and Arkle Town, but with few windows this side, since this faces the prevailing wind.

Dist:0.8km northeast<br/>A single wooden beam bridge, most likely the longest of its type in the Swaledale/Arkengarthdale area. Not long after this photo was taken the bridge was damaged during a flood and is currently [Nov 08] closed awaiting repairs.

Dist:0.8km northeast<br/>In 2008 a flood on the Arkle Beck brought a tree crashing into this bridge damaging several of the stanchions and rails. After a lengthy closure, repairs were carried out with new rails and stanchions, and the bridge was ready for use by early 2009. The sturdy single beam bridge withstood the impact and suffered only light damage.
