Dist:0.5km<br/>Wightfield Manor stands on a medieval moated site. The building dates from the 16th century, the site was in the ownership of the Cassey family from Sir John Cassey in 1382 through his descendants until 1574. The present house is thought to have been begun in 1540 by Robert Cassey, some of the stone may have come from nearby Deerhurst Priory which was demolished in 1547. The building underwent restoration in the 1990s when surrounding farm buildings were converted into residential accommodation. Difficult to get a good view of the Manor, here it is seen from the footpath passing to the north.
