The Brazillian artist Cildo Meireles (b1948) is widely recognised as one of the leaders in the international development of Conceptual art. Since the late 1960s he has created sculptures and installations which involve an element of participation, often drawing attention to the body psychologically, socially, politically and as a physical being in space and time. This exhibition will be the first extensive presentation of the artistâs work in the UK. Revealing how he is particularly fascinated by scale, the works will range from an object in the form of a finger-ring to an installation covering 225 square metres. Meireles will also create two new works in London.

Draw a picture of yourself by choosing eight of your favourite things. That was the brief given to a clutch of celebrities including Eric Clapton, Raymond Briggs, Anna Ford and Philip Pullman. The result is an exhibition curated by the Museum of Illustration on display at the Dulwich Picture Gallery. The idea is based on a Victorian parlour game and, just to add to the fun, the name of the person behind the illustration won't be revealed at first - you can check how many you guessed correctly afterwards. The Museum of Illustration, set up by Quentin Blake, hopes to have a permanent home in the Kings Cross regeneration area by 2011. In the meantime you can find out more at www.museumofillustration.org.uk. Read more »
