The G Mex centre - from the front, this time. This is the ex Midland Railway terminus of its mainline from Derby, through the Peak district (now Peak railway and the Monsal trail) to Manchester. Three railway viaducts stride across the junction of the Bridgewater Canal and the Staffordshire Arm at Castlefield, Manchester.

Castlefield Basin was the terminus of the Bridgewater Canal and the wharves were at one time used for unloading coal and timber. It is now a fashionable venue, with pubs and canalside apartments alongside the canal heritage.
