Outwood Community Video is a video-making club located in Outwood, Wakefield. The club was formed in 2001 to encourage people of all ages to take an interest in film making. We intend to film events around our local communities in Outwood, Stanley, Alverthorpe, Wrenthorpe, Kirkhamgate and Lofthouse.
All our members are volunteers and give their time freely. The aim of our club, with the aid of local funding, is to produce a series of videos that reflect the history of our area as well as putting together a digital database of film and photographs for future generations.
We also aim to help raise funds for the less fashionable charities, groups and clubs that sometimes miss out to the more popular groups.
The club meets every Tuesday at Outwood Memorial Hall. New members and visitors are always welcome.

As you drive about Wakefield District you often see hoardings, bulldozers and sometimes cranes as well, as new houses, offices and warehouses go up. As well as adding changing views to the local skyline, these developments often bring up evidence of the past as well.
This exhibition will look at some of the new developments in Wakefield District over the last 10-15 years where archaeologists have found more out about the past during building work. Examples include Iron Age farms and field systems under new warehousing near the M62, a Castleford pottery flint mill recorded before new houses were built, a medieval castle site confirmed before flood prevention works on a golf course, and evidence of a smelly Wakefield trade in the Middle Ages underneath new studios for artists.
