Already preoccupied with Christmas shopping? So many little additional bits and pieces have been available to women to finish off ""a look"" and make the wearer not only feel beautiful, but unique! Personalising one's appearance has now become essential self-expression to many.

The range of accessories that survive is huge, from Roman broaches and rings to the shell necklace revival of the last couple of years. Many items were considered important in certain settings, would be seen as very odd today, eg fans, decorative hair combs, lorgnettes, buttonhole holders, hand-muffs and hat pins. Feather boas have seen a revival, if mainly by teenagers in hired limos! So much more than hats, gloves and shoes - come and be inspired to be different.

Jiang Shu, was born into a folk musician family in China and started to learn the Zheng (a 21-stringed zither) and Qin (a 7-stringed zither) as a child. Having gained a BA degree from Shanghai Conservatory of Music and an MA in ethnomusicology from the University of Sheffield she is now studying for a PhD in Sheffield.

Working alongside various folk and traditional musicians in China, she has accumulated a wide repertoire of Chinese music. She continues her musical journey, learning and experimenting with sound and immersing herself in the world fusion-music scene and entwining Chinese music with Irish folk music, Indian Classical and rock music.

On with the dance suggests itself as a title for the first concert of the second half of the series. In their original form, Rachmaninov's magically compelling Symphonic Dances were written for Eugene Ormandy and the Philadelphia Orchestra; the version for piano duet is less often heard but every bit as exciting as the orchestral original. Rachmaninov originally gave them descriptive titles: Midday, Twilight and Midnight Although he eventually discarded them, they fit the music perfectly.
