This Aberdeen landmark was built in 1829-30, arguably the best product of architect John Smith. Of course, it is granite and is now the Arts Centre.

This is one of Aberdeen's three cathedrals. It is at the foot of King Street and was designed by Archibald Simpson in 1816, in perpendicular style. This Episcopalian cathedral is also the mother church for USA episcopalians. It is not granite, but Craigleith sandstone.

Dist:0.1km<br/>Castlegate is the old market place of Aberdeen, with markets held since the 12th Century. Gate derives from the Norse "gatan" for street and is a common term in Scotland and northern England. The castle is long gone.
